Dr Ibrar Bhatt

School of Social Sciences, Education and Social Work

Dr Bhatt has active research interests in literacy studies, linguistic ethnography, and contemporary digital epistemologies. Between 2021-2023 he was a recipient of a Leverhulme Research Fellowship for a study on heritage literacy in China. His recent work includes: The Epistemology of Deceit (2021 co-edited), Academics Writing: The Dynamics of Knowledge Creation (2019 co-authored); Assignments as Controversies: Digital Literacy & Writing in Classroom Practice (2017 sole-authored), as well as many published research articles on similar subjects. He recently featured as guest editor for two important journal special issues: ‘Critical Perspectives on Teaching in the Multilingual Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ’ for Teaching in Higher Education; and ‘Lies, Bullshit & Fake News’ for Postdigital Science & Education.

He is a member of the Governing Council of the Society for Research into Higher Education, and convened its Digital Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Network between 2015-2022. He is also Executive Editor for the journal Teaching in Higher Education: Critical Perspectives.
